MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Norma Duran

Where are you from?

Honduras.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I started my career as an Aesthetician. However, I have always loved photography, but it wasn’t until my first child was born that I discovered how much passion I had for it. I wanted to capture everything, even a sneeze, haha!

How did you become interested in Photography?

As my daughter grew up, I got around to photograph more families and events. I did that for 13 years. Then I met a very good photographer, who later became my friend, that provided the last inspiration I needed to get started professionally. She was the photographer for my family’s Santa experience photo session. During this encounter, I came to the realization that photography was something I really wanted to pursue professionally. She convinced me to make the investment in me and the equipment required to start doing it professionally.

I did just that. I went and got a mirrorless camera and she offered to teach me all the basics to get me started. Then the rest was on me. I cannot explain how much this decision has changed my life. I take pride in my photos. I try and take every single course I can. You never stop learning. “Wise words.”

What type of photography do you specialize in?

I am proud to say I own a brand new renovated chic and glamorous private photography studio in the heart of Jupiter, FL. I specialize in branding, boudoir and dance photography. I offer a complete experience that includes an extensive wardrobe and props to ensure a great result.

I also enjoy doing fashion sessions and events. I am known for the patience I have with my clients during our photo sessions and my meticulous attention to detail when editing photos. I do not preset filters that tend to homogenize every image. I prefer to edit each photo individually according to the specific mood of the subjects and the background. . Whether it is a warm beach photo or a cool ambient room, etc., every photo has its own unique story to tell.

How did you come to specialize in this type of photography?

I am proud of all the hard work I have put into making this all possible and that clients, family and friends recognize the love that I put into my photography. I have also been recognized by the PPAPB with a rising star award.

What other attributes do you have that you think contribute to your success as a photographer?

The advantage I have is that I have a natural eye for framing the shot and catching the important moments that make for a great photo. It is something you cannot teach. My mission is to empower woman and, through my photography, allow them to appreciate their individual beauty.

Where can others go to see more of your work or contact you for your photography services?
